Langford was a five-star recruit coming out of high school before he committed to Michigan State on June 22, 2015, citing the "family atmosphere" as the reason he chose the Spartans. Langford was limited to 13 games as a junior due to a foot injury. On December 19, it was announced that Langford would miss the entire 2019-20 season after undergoing foot surgery.
